דאדא (1916-1924) DaDa

הדאדא היא תנועה אומנותית ניהיליסטית, אשר נוצרה על רקע התסכול ממלחמת העולם הראשונה. בייסודה זו תנועת מחאה נגד הממסד על כל גילוייו ונגד הפורמליזם באמנות בפרט. התפיסה הדאדאיסטית מבטלת את התפיסה ההומניסטית השלטת בתרבות ובאמנות המערב מאז הרנסנס. היא מבטאה חוסר תוכן, מקריות והפקעה מהקשר בכל תחומי האמנות. האמנים דחו את צורות הביטוי המסורתיות ויצרו ספרות ללא למילים ומשמעות, ציור ופיסול מקטעי מציאות - Ready Made וקולאז'ים.
תנועת הדאדא צמחה בציריך, פעילותה מאופיינת בפרובוקציות תרבותיות ובאנטי-מיליטריזם. דוגמה לפרובוקציה על ידי מרסל דושו, היא הוספת שפם וזקן למונה-ליזה וראשי התיבות "חם לה בתחתונים", זו פגיעה ביצירה המסמלת את גיבושם הנעלה ביותר של ערכי הרנסנס.
מאפיינים סגנוניים: ערבוב מין בשאינו מינו, המצאת הקולאז' והפוטומונטאז', שימוש בטכניקות מעורבות.
אומנים בולטים: צזרה משורר, באל פילוסוף, ציירים: ינקו, ארפ, דושו וארנסט. מאן ריי צלם, הרטפילד – פוטומונטאז'.
